Compare features with models costing twice as much and you’ll be asking, “How do they do it”?
Well, features first and then we’ll get to the “How”.:
- Three-speed propulsion, up to 3.3mph. Leisurely cruise a reef, or quickly get from points A to B. Three-speed, on-the-fly shifting.
- Cable-free battery-pod charging (Simply set it into the provided charger). 120 minutes on a battery charge. (At low speed. Higher speeds require more stored power).
- LED battery status indicator ON THE HOUSING (Flashes green for full charge; red when low).
- Depth up to (actually down to) 120 feet. (Experienced, qualified divers only).
- Attachment points for accessory lanyards.
- Water ingress alert.
- Overheating protection.
- Snap-in ballast weights for instant buoyancy adjustment.
- Auto shut-off when triggers are released.
- Four, snap-on, nose-cone latches to ensure a water-tight seal.
- The handling weight is just 32lbs including battery. The unit is 28“ long by 12-½“ wide. Shipping weight: 40lbs.
- Many other features are incorporated into the sophisticated design. To name a few: Soft, start power circuitry; water ingress alert; overheating protection; safety grilles; retractable rubber handle; auto shut-off when triggers released; master safety lock.
- Battery run time: Approximately two hours.
- Depth rating: 160 feet.
- Retractable carry handle.
- Direct, factory service and parts.
Now, why is the price so low for such quality and the abundance of pro features?
First of all Sea-Doo has introduced a new model. One of the differences? Triple nose cone seals instead of two. With common-sense maintenance: keeping the O rings clean and lubricated, you don’t NEED three seals.
The new model does, however, have a pressure valve for depressurization on ascent. This sounds pretty impressive, but when I think about it and visualize contraction under ambient pressure at depth and expansion upon ascent, the only advantage to a “pressure valve” would be if pressure was somehow introduced internally to counteract the ambient pressure at different atmospheres. I’m not a physicist (and I’m Polish as well) so perhaps this is over my submerged head. The new model does, however, have a pressure valve for depressurization on ascent. Oh yes, the new model is black instead of orange. Makes you want to reach for your credit card.
Secondly, I have sold my business, The Airline by J.Sink, but retained some scooters because there were potential battery failures and, as such, were not included in the inventory of assets. To their credit, Sea-Doo replaced all batteries with new improved ones. To my knowledge there have not been failures outside of normal attrition. Before I ship to you, the battery will be charged and the unit dry tested to ensure proper working order as far as is possible under the circumstances. (If you search the web you will see some negative comments. Many, if not most of them, are the result of the earlier battery problems. The master distributor was under tremendous pressure from unhappy customers, but was at the mercy of the manufacturer‘s testing of the new batteries coupled with backlogged shipping schedules).
Warranty and service are handled through the master distributor, Sport Dimension of Torrence, CA. Find them here: sport dimension.com
I do not handle service issues because the sale price is LESS than what I, as a field distributor, paid for them. If you shopped a couple of years ago you will remember that the Suggested Retail Price was 895.00.
There is a VERY limited quantity available so I suggest that you don’t miss out. A great Christmas present for a diving family.
